The Department of Liver Surgery at West China Hospital of Sichuan University is a national key discipline, a key clinical specialty of the National Health Commission, a key discipline of the Ministry of Education, and a national "211 Project" construction discipline. As the liver cancer diagnosis and treatment center in the western region, the Department of Liver Surgery has a medical team with strong professional capabilities and superb skills, including many physicians with international study or training backgrounds. The department has fixed beds and is equipped with advanced medical equipment, and is known for solving complex, difficult and severe liver and gallbladder diseases.

There are currently 23 doctors in the liver surgery department, including 8 doctoral supervisors. The main hospital has 92 fixed beds and the Shangjin hospital has 30 beds. The department is particularly known for its strong ability to solve complex, difficult and severe liver and gallbladder diseases. There are 22 doctors in the team, including 9 professors, 7 associate professors, 2 attending physicians and 4 resident physicians. 20 have doctoral degrees and 1 has a master's degree. There are 7 doctoral supervisors and 11 master supervisors. Many doctors in the center have studied or trained in famous universities in the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan and other countries. There are 31 nurses, including 1 senior professional title, 1 head nurse, 20 nurses, 1 graduate student, 22 undergraduates and 8 college students.

The department has accumulated a large number of cases and rich experience in the diagnosis and treatment of liver cancer, and is at the advanced level in China. It is able to complete various complex liver cancer resections (precision liver resections), radiofrequency and HIFU ablation treatments for liver cancer, interventional treatments, molecular targeted treatments, etc.
