The Urology Research Institute of West China Hospital, Sichuan University is one of the earliest established urology departments in my country and has developed into one of the leading departments in the field of urology in China. With the support of clinical departments, the institute is committed to cutting-edge basic and clinical research on urinary system-related diseases and was officially established in 2015. After years of development, the institute has established experimental platforms including molecules, cells, specimen libraries and pathology, with nearly 500 square meters of laboratory space and about 50 million yuan of instruments and equipment.

The institute consists of five laboratories, namely, the Urological Tumor and Prostate Disease Laboratory, the Urological Tissue Repair and Reconstruction Laboratory, the Urological and Men's Science Laboratory, the Kidney Transplantation Laboratory and the Andrology Laboratory. It has full-time scientific researchers, technicians, postdoctoral fellows, and master and doctoral students, and has introduced national and provincial "Young Thousand Talents" and specially hired foreign experts.

In terms of scientific research results, the Urology Research Institute has made remarkable achievements, and has received a number of grants, including national key research and development plans, the National Natural Science Foundation, and provincial and ministerial projects. The total approved funding exceeds 40 million yuan, and more than 20 patents have been applied for. The Institute's researchers publish more than 100 research papers in domestic and foreign professional journals each year, including high-quality SCI papers published in internationally renowned journals such as "Nat Commun", "Eur Urol", and "Clin Cancer Res".
