Hainan Provincial Stomatological Center and Haikou People's Hospital Stomatological Center were established in May 1959 as the Stomatological Department of Haikou People's Hospital. In 1995, the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Ward was established. It has gradually grown and developed after the introduction of Professor Xu Pu, the leader of the discipline.

In March 2006, the Stomatological Center of Haikou People's Hospital was established based on the Department of Stomatology; in April 2009, with the approval of the Hainan Provincial Health Commission, the Hainan Provincial Stomatological Center was officially established.

In April 2010, the center established a tertiary discipline with 13 clinical disciplines, as well as five auxiliary departments: General Stomatology Office, Stomatology Teaching and Research Section, Stomatology Assistant Management Department, Stomatology Care Office (Oral Disinfection Supply Center) and Stomatology Operating Room.

Under the care of leaders at all levels of the province and the city, as of June 2019, the center has 72 dental chairs, 35 beds, and a total of 115 employees, including 12 people with senior professional titles (including 2 doctoral supervisors and 3 master's supervisors), 56 people with intermediate and above professional titles; there are 5 doctors and 27 masters.
