As we look back on 2024, it has been another remarkable year for research on Tetrahedral Framework Nucleic Acids (tFNAs)! Throughout the year, Professor Yunfeng Lin’s research team at Yunhai Bio has published a total of 43 SCI papers related to tFNAs, with the highest impact factor reaching 40.8. Notably, 30 of these publications have an impact factor greater than 10. (Applause here...)
By the end of 2024, Professor Yunfeng Lin has accumulated a total of 258 SCI papers as a corresponding or first author, with 87 of them having an impact factor greater than 10, and a cumulative impact factor of 2508.
Breakthroughs and Innovations in 2024
In 2024, Professor Yunfeng Lin’s team continued to explore the multifaceted applications of tFNAs in various medical fields and clinical applications, achieving numerous breakthroughs and innovations. Particularly in immune monitoring, Parkinson’s disease treatment, miRNA delivery, and traditional Chinese medicine monomer delivery, tFNAs have provided groundbreaking approaches and insights.
For instance, the team published a study in Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy (IF = 40.8) titled “DNA framework signal amplification platform-based high-throughput systemic immune monitoring”. This study introduced a novel high-throughput systemic immune monitoring method based on tFNA technology. By leveraging exponential enrichment and the design of DNA tetrahedral framework structure probes, the team developed a DNA Framework Signal Amplification Platform (DSAP), utilizing ligand evolution strategies to achieve high-sensitivity detection of CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes, as well as monocytes. This platform can even detect extremely low concentrations of cells (as low as 1/100 μL), offering an innovative solution for immune monitoring while providing an efficient, rapid, and cost-effective method for clinical diagnostics and health screening.
Another significant study, published in Science Bulletin (IF = 18) and titled “Targeting modulation of intestinal flora through oral route by an antimicrobial nucleic acid-loaded exosome-like nanovesicles to improve Parkinson's disease”, proposed a novel oral tFNA delivery system, Exo@tac, using exosome-like nanovesicles derived from turmeric. This system encapsulates targeted nucleic acid sequences and antimicrobial peptide-modified tFNAs, leveraging the stability and acid resistance of plant-derived vesicles for efficient nucleic acid oral delivery. By modulating the microbiota-gut-brain axis, this method demonstrates promising therapeutic potential for Parkinson’s disease, providing new insights and applications for treating neurodegenerative diseases with tFNA-based therapies and innovative delivery strategies.
